Mint Julep Recipe

It's what you gotta have while watching the Derby.
Ingredients
By Measure
4 cups Bourbon1 cup sugar
1 cup distilled water
1 cup fresh mint leaves
Preparation
- Heat the distilled water in a stainless steel pan to a simmer.
- Stir in the sugar until it has all dissolved into the water.
- Add the mint leaves and remove from the heat.
- Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Strain and refrigerate until cool.
- Combine 1/2 the mint syrup mixture with the Bourbon.
- Pour the Bourbon mixture over glasses full of crushed ice.
- Fill each glass to the top and enjoy immediately, garnished with a sprig of mint. The extra mint syrup is for adjusting the julep to your taste.
