French Toast Recipe

A quick tip on mixing the eggs. I like to beat my eggs with the sugar to really break the eggs up. Don't walk away from this though since the sugar will "cook" the eggs in a few minutes. Add the cream and it will be more stable.

A classic French Toast with a Southern twist


 
 



Ingredients
By Measure
4 Slices Texas Toast
1 Cup Heavy Cream
2 Eggs
3/4 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Bourbon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1 Orange Orange Zest
1/4 Cup Clarified Butter

 
 


Preparation

  1. Whisk the eggs and sugar together then whisk in the cream
  2. Add the bourbon, nutmeg and orange zest and mix well
  3. Soak the bread for about 1 minute until well saturated
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add clarified butter
  5. Brown on both sides
  6. If needed you can finish cooking in a 350 degrees oven until done
