Ingredients
For The Bread Pudding:
1 Quart Cream
15 Eggs
1 ½ Cups Sugar
2 French Baguettes Cut Into 1 ½” Cubes – Enough bread to fill a one gallon container
10 Large Marshmallows Chopped Into Small Pieces
2 Cups Chocolate Chips
2 Cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
2 Cups Brown Sugar

For The Sauce:
2 Sticks Unsalted Butter
2 Cups Brown Sugar
10 Large Marshmallows
1 Cup Dark or Milk Chocolate Chips
2 Cups Cream

Preparation

For The Bread Pudding:

  • In a large container puree the cream, eggs and sugar together with a stick/immersion blender
  • Add the bread and allow to soak in the refrigerator overnight or at least 2-3 hours. NOTE Some recipes will recommend using stale bread but I have found that fresh bread is better
  • When ready to bake remove bread from the liquid and place in a large bowl. NOTE You will have liquid left over. Discard it. Do no put it in the bread pudding otherwise you will have bread pudding soup. Probably good but not what we’re going for here.
  • Add the chopped marshmallows, chocolate chips and graham cracker crumbs to the soaked bread and toss to coat and incorporate
  • In a 9x13 greased casserole dish add the bread.  NOTE You may not use all the bread just be sure to leave about a ½” from the top edge so that there is room for it to rise
  • Cover the top with the brown sugar
  • Bake at 350 degrees until set. About one hour to an hour and twenty minutes. NOTE I recommend baking on a sheet pan because it is prone to bubbling over and leaving a sticky, sugary mess that burns and smokes quite dramatically in the bottom of your oven. Yeah, I’ve done it. Way too many times to admit.

For The Sauce:

  • Melt the butter in a sauce pan
  • Add the brown sugar and stir to combine
  • Add the marshmallows and chocolate and stir until melted
  • Add the cream and bring to a simmer

To Finish:
  • When the bread pudding is cooked allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes so it can settle
  • Pour the sauce over the top. NOTE You may not need all the sauce but it is great for ice cream or pancakes or French toast…I’ve even know some people to eat it cold with a spoon.
  • Garnish with toasted marshmallows and pieces of Hershey® chocolate bars if you like
