Dumplings with Spinach and Brown Butter Recipe


Ingredients
By Measure
1 Cup Flour
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Water
2 Tbs Oil
1/2 Cup Julienned Onions
2 Tbs Butter
1 Tbs Chopped Garlic
8 Cups Spinach
Zest form 1/2 a Lemon
1/2 Cup Shredded Gouda
2 Tbs Mustard
Salt and Pepper To Taste

 
 
Preparation

  1. For the dumplings: mix together the flour, eggs and water until well combined
  2. Scoop the dumplings into desired size and cook in simmering, salted water like you would pasta until they float and are cooked through
  3. For the sauce: heat the oil over medium-high heat and sauté the onions until soft
  4. Add the butter and cook until the butter is light brown
  5. Add the garlic and spinach and cook until spinach is wilted
  6. Add the lemon zest, gouda and mustard and season to taste with salt and pepper
  7. Add the cooked dumplings and toss to coat well
  8. Makes about 4 servings
